While big data, cloud and mobility have emerged to become the biggest and most disruptive business technologies in the last few years, very few organizations have the knowledge to truly capitalize on these and the skills to implement them. The challenge is not unique to India though; the skills shortage in emerging technologies is real across the globe and has some of the largest organizations grappling with it. A trends report by IBM in 2012 reveals that only one in ten companies have the necessary skills across these emerging technologies. Growth across India's IT, mobile, communication and digital industries could be hampered by an impending skills gap brought about by the rapid proliferation of Big Data, cloud and mobile technologies.
It is this growing technology skill gap that Bangalore based Edureka aims to address with its pioneering online courses in new technologies such as Android, Big Data & Hadoop, Hadoop Administration, Apache Cassandra, Cloud Computing, Data Science and Business Analytics with R among others. While the curriculum for each of these courses is custom designed, what really distinguishes Edureka is its delivery methodology- the firm provides a first of its kind 'live instructor led courses' for a duration ranging between 4 weeks to 8 weeks and 24x7 support to solve student queries. Edureka's course designers and instructors include senior and seasoned technology professionals who have hands-on experience, ensuring the course content is industry relevant and up to date. In addition, Edureka assigns course participants projects to work on during the term, resulting in faster career advancement. On successful completion of the project, learners are awarded a certificate from Edureka.
INCEPTION OF EDUREKA
Edureka was founded by Lovleen Bhatia, an IIT–BHU alumni and Kapil Tyagi, a 2002 IIT Bombay alumni in May 2011. They identified the challenges faced by students, as a part of the routine learning process and the skill gap in this ever growing industry. Having mapped the fact that students enjoyed online learning more and shared queries and facts frequently over social networking, lead to the formation of Edureka which started by offering both offline and online courses.
The name Edureka comprises of 2 different words; Education and Eureka. Edureka has a unique learning methodology which has evolved over the time. The organization went completely online in 2012 after realizing the potential of reaching out to larger audience and to be able to reach to people in remote and in other courtiers as well and that's when Edureka moved to completely online structural frame.
