Aditya Gupta and Nitin Chhabra started their entrepreneurial journey in a humble way only to reach dizzy heights in too distant future.
From a small commercial space in Delhi dealing in trading of computers parts to a manufacturing house of LED TV and Power Banks, the journey of Powerful Technologies Private Limited has been eventful and full of challenges. The never-say-die spirit of its promoters – Nitin Chhabra and Aditya Gupta – makes Powerful live true to its name.
A Graduate of Delhi University, Aditya joined his cousin's business at the young age of 18 and within 6 years decided to start his own venture. Joined by an adept professional Nitin Chhabra, a Chartered Accountant, the duo faced a host of challenges at every step and they took challenges as stepping stones to make Powerful a success story.
Joining hands in 2011, they started manufacturing to support government initiative of Make In India and today, the company has already been approved and authorized by US-based over 75-year-old brands Kodak and Polaroid to manufacture and distribute power banks and LED TV. The company manufactures LED TV, LED Monitors and power banks under their own brands- Lappymaster and Powereye.
Started with a small capital, the company generated funds from bankers, friends and relatives to create an enviable set up which today supports over 100 workers besides various professionals.
The company has a vision to become one of the largest LED TV manufacturers in India. In just 5 years of its operations, company did around 125 crore group turnover in last FY. With company recent tie up with Polaroid and Kodak, Powerful expects a tripple growth targeting a turnover of 500 crore in the next FY.
Packed with state-of-the-art equipment, Powerful has a well equipped R&D centre which is engaged in continuous research and innovations.
According to Aditya Gupta, Powerful is going to fully automate its procesess to reduce the dependency for raw material from China. We are planning to manufacture maximum parts in India only as import substitutes. For this we have planned for a stage wise investment on plan and machineries and in a phase manner.
Says Nitin Chhabra, “we believe current economic environment is very conducive for 'Make in India' products. The overall reputation and acceptance of the Indian made products has increased worldwide and now people are preferring and ready to pay premium for products Made in India as compare to Made in China.”
“We believe India can develop itself into a digital nation, Within months of demonization there is already a usage of various mobile application across all shopping malls to street vendors. Weather it's a fruit seller or a small grocery shop, everywhere mobile Apps are being accepted and we expect that our villages will also take to digital payment methods.”
Considering the demand of Point of Sales Machines (POS) as well as finger print scanner for Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS), the company has developed POS devices in association with the one of the largest manufactures of POS devices with some unique features.
The new POS machines developed by the “Powerfull Technology” are portable as mobile phone which enable easy mobility. The POS machines are certified by Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS), PCI PTS 3x, SRED. The POS machines accept EVM, Smart Cards, Magnetic Strips and enables contactless transactions. The latest POS machines are approximately 50 % cheaper than the traditional POS machines. With its unique features and cost effectiveness, the POS machines are widely accepted.
The company is also pioneer in developing the Finger Print Scanners which allows Aadhaar enabled transactions. The FPS are approved by UIDAI / SQTC. As an effective after-sales, the company has partnered with a leading service providers to facilitate customers around 280 locations across regions.
As CSR initiatives, many social security educational programs for employees are conducted regularly to provide them the best facilities in every way. “After all, our employees are our family, quips Nitin Chhabra.
